Using a Lebanese Power of Attorney in the UAE and making a UAE Will remotely

If you are in Lebanon and need someone to complete a transaction in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah, first obtain the UAE receiver’s required wording. The UAE Embassy in Beirut publishes the complete documentary chain: sign a legal document such as a Power of Attorney before a Lebanese notary or competent legal authority, obtain attestation from Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, then apply through UAE MOFA for the Embassy and UAE MOFA digital attestations. The original physical document is still collected and returned by the approved courier. Attestation does not approve the POA’s powers, so the final UAE receiver must be checked before signing. A UAE Will follows a separate registry procedure and must be executed personally by the testator.

The Lebanon-to-UAE route at a glance

The Beirut mission describes its service as one application producing two attestations: the UAE Embassy in Beirut and UAE MOFA. “Digital” refers to the application and attested output; it does not remove the original physical document from the process.

Follow the published sequence, but confirm the POA’s wording with the final UAE receiver before the Lebanese notarial appointment.

1. UAE receiver and transactionIdentify the Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, RAK, Fujairah or federal receiverWhich exact acts, identifiers, language and supporting records does it require?
2. Lebanese executionSign the POA before a local notary or competent legal authority in LebanonConfirm the signer, original form, witnesses if any and transaction attachments
3. Lebanese authenticationObtain attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in LebanonThe Embassy says relevant stamps and signatures on other documents must be within the published one-year window
4. UAE digital-attestation applicationLog in through UAE Pass, select Attestation Service and the Lebanese Republic, complete the application and paymentA visitor may create a basic UAE Pass account, but the live application controls eligibility and fields
5. Original-document courierThe approved provider collects the original; the applicant receives the digitally attested result and the original is returnedPrepare the airway bill and valid identification for delivery
6. UAE receiverPresent the attested document and complete any receiver-specific translation, notarisation or transaction stepThe receiver—not the attestations—decides whether the granted powers are sufficient

A digital application still requires the original document

The UAE Embassy in Beirut expressly says the original physical document is required. After the online application and payment, a UAE MOFA-approved provider contacts the applicant to arrange pickup. The completed digital document carries both the Embassy and UAE MOFA attestations, and the original is returned by courier.

The mission accepts personal and commercial documents except commercial invoices and certificates of origin, which use eDAS 2.0. It classifies a Power of Attorney containing commercial content as a commercial document. That classification should be selected from the actual content, not from the applicant’s preferred fee category.

The mission also states that non-Lebanese documents cannot be sent to Beirut merely because the applicant is there; they must be attested by the UAE mission in the country of issue. Country of issue, physical location and nationality are separate facts.

The mission publishes operational windows, not a transaction guarantee

The Beirut mission currently says most digital-attestation requests are completed in two to three business days. It publishes courier collection within 24 hours after successful submission and delivery within 24 to 48 hours after Embassy release, or 48 to 72 hours for remote areas.

Those are the authority’s and courier’s published windows for their stages. They do not include drafting, receiver review, Lebanese notarisation, Lebanese Foreign Ministry handling, corrections, UAE translation or the final property, banking, court, company or vehicle transaction. The Deedbox does not convert them into an end-to-end promise.

If an application is rejected for non-compliance, the mission says the attestation fee is refunded automatically but the service and delivery charge is not refundable. The original is returned and the applicant may resubmit after correcting the requirements.

Draft for the UAE receiver, not for an emirate keyword

A Dubai property transfer, Abu Dhabi court matter, Sharjah vehicle transfer, RAK company change and Fujairah bank instruction share the Lebanon-to-UAE attestation chain, but they do not share one universal set of powers.

For property, identify the land authority, asset, sale or purchase, mortgage or developer involvement and authority to receive proceeds. For vehicles, separate sale, transfer, export and receipt powers. For companies, identify the entity, licence and corporate act. For banking, obtain the institution’s written wording before signing in Lebanon.

One substantial Lebanon-to-UAE corridor therefore answers the changing Lebanese stage and routes each UAE task to its actual receiver. Near-identical Lebanon-to-Dubai, Lebanon-to-Sharjah, Lebanon-to-RAK and Lebanon-to-Fujairah pages would be doorway content and are not published.

Can a person in Lebanon make a UAE Will remotely?

A Lebanese وصية is not automatically a substitute for a Will registered through a UAE route, and a UAE Will is not automatically effective for a Lebanese estate. Notarisation and attestation cannot decide those cross-border succession questions.

DIFC Courts publishes that an eligible non-Muslim testator need not be UAE-resident and may use a virtual registration appointment, with witnesses joining from anywhere. Abu Dhabi Judicial Department publishes a Civil Will route for a non-UAE citizen regardless of religion, using an English-Arabic template and online notarial attendance after review. Dubai Courts distinguishes online attendance with a valid Emirates ID from passport-only personal appearance.

The registry decision depends on eligibility, religion where relevant, UAE assets, family circumstances, language and attendance—not Lebanese nationality alone. The testator must personally execute the Will through the chosen registry; a وكيل acting under a وكالة cannot sign it instead.

Questions

Can I register a DIFC Will while I am in Lebanon?

DIFC Courts publishes that an eligible non-Muslim testator need not be UAE-resident and may use a virtual registration appointment. Eligibility, assets and cross-border effect still require individual confirmation.

What this page does not do

  • The Deedbox prepares UAE-focused documents. It is not a Lebanese or UAE authority, not a Lebanese notary and not a law firm. It does not notarise, authenticate, attest or register documents or Wills.
  • This page covers a Lebanon-to-UAE transaction document. It does not provide a Lebanese domestic وكالة, توكيل or وصية or decide Lebanese law.
  • The Arabic section is search orientation grounded in the UAE Embassy Beirut’s official Arabic wording, not a certified translation of a UAE instrument or Lebanese legal advice.
  • The Lebanese notary or competent authority, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, UAE Embassy in Beirut, UAE MOFA and final receiver control the current execution, authentication, submission and acceptance requirements.
  • The published mission and courier windows cover only their stages and are not a promise of end-to-end completion.
  • Attestation verifies the documentary chain. It does not approve content or compel a UAE receiver to accept the Power of Attorney.
  • The cross-border effect of a Lebanese or UAE Will requires appropriately qualified advice in each relevant jurisdiction.

The Deedbox is a legal-document service. It is not a notary office and not a law firm. We prepare documents and coordinate notarisation, registration, attestation and legalisation through the appropriate licensed parties and authorities. Will registration is performed by the relevant authority — the DIFC Courts Wills Service, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, Dubai Courts or the Notary Public; we prepare and coordinate, we do not register. Preparing or paying for a document does not mean it has been notarised, registered or accepted by any authority — those are separate steps, and we show you exactly where your case stands at each one. Nothing on this page is legal advice.
